Maltese Falcon
Hi guys.I live in North London. Can anyone tell me where my nearest dark sky site is? Well darkish anyway, seeing as we have the brightest lights in Europe! Turn off all the lights I say, if they did the govenment wouldn't need to pick on disabled people like they plan to. They could save a b****Y fortune right there not to mention CO2 emissions!
NGC 1502
I think your best bet is to contact/join an astronomy society, they would knowthe best locations in the area. If you have a garden, find a place that is shieldedfrom nearby bright lights ( if you can ! ) and observe from there. I live in SE Essexand it's surprising what can be seen with a bit of persistence.Good luck ! Ed.
E621Keith
I agree with Ed, joining a astronomical society is probably your best bet. However, there are still plenty to see in London despite the light pollution.

davew
Have a look here - AVEX: UK Light pollution MapI think they're the finest dark sky maps on the web. Download and enjoy. Or not when you see the pollution.Dave.
