Skywatcher Evostar 90 v 20 x 90 Binoculars

Recommended Posts

Binoculars are more-or-less one-trick ponies, excelling at wide-field, low magnification work, whereas the evostar offers a range of magnifications. Because the latter has a longer focal length, chromatic aberration will be less troublesome. For wide-field work you probably would need a 2" focuser, and similar eyepieces, which pushes up the price.

My Bresser is quite old (1995 vintage) and cost quite a bit then. They are very nice binoculars, with good eye relief, and generally sharper than the 15x70 Omegon (Celestron clone). The one problem I have with many if not all centre-focused binoculars is the ease with which I can lose focus by bumping into the EPs with my glasses. The Bresser does have a focus lock which helps a bit in that respect. If they still have the same optical quality, they should be great.
