Choose the reference frame carefully. Registax will limit frames closest to the reference frame, that's the only way it knows which are the 'best' frames.

There's an advanced technique in Regsitax that allows you to create a reference frame (from a small amount of frames and some gentle wavelets) and then use that over all the frames to get a better stack sample.

I am guilty of using the first frame as a reference. Must remember to scroll forward a bit...

I do create a reference frame after I limit the stack size though. Usually 50 frames. Then apply mild wavelelets etc.
