Celestron coallimation tool?

Recommended Posts

I've got this tool, and it's actually really good to collimate with. I get pretty-much bang on collimation with less than 5 minutes work from a newly built scope, and <30 seconds the next time the scope comes out. I haven't used a laser collimater yet, but I don't think I would get any real advantage from it.

I'm willing to be wrong, but I'm not going to spend cash on one just yet.

I agree with cathalferris: I bought this same collimator for my Celestron and, worried about the process, I read up on the technique about twenty times before daring to take a screwdriver to the mirror bolts. But all went well - it's a joy to use. (And collimation frightens me no more!)

I have tried both - I have used three laser collimators and all but the Hotech were useless.

I'd only get a laser for primary collimation if I had a long tube scope.

Chsires are simple and theres nothing to go wrong. One less thing that needs batteries too.

I just wish someone made a really high quality Cheshire - like a Hotech is to lasers I'd like a super duper Cheshire.
