How to attach Light Pollution Filter to Canon 400d at Prime focus

Recommended Posts

You would need to use a 2" nosepiece which would screw into the cameras T ring. The LPF would then screw onto the end of this and you would then have to pop it all into the focuser drawtube as if it were a 2" EP.

The other way around this is to use a clip in filter system like the Astronomik CLS which are available from various companies on the net.

The Astronomik CLS clip filter is pretty good actually. It just clips into the throat of your DSLR before you put on the bayonet fitting. Apart from doing the job of filtering, it also acts as a pretty good dust cover for the mirror and sensor.

With such a filter in place you wouldn't have to change the way you connect the camera to the scope.
