M31 (15 x 15 minute subs)

Hi,

This is my 2010 M31. I guess one have to do at least one every year?

I have unfortunately not managed to get rid of all amp glow. My darks had a "leakage" giving them a red hue.

As a desperate measure, I used two day old dark frames and bias frames. There is a mismatch in both sub length and temperature, so It was kind of to be expected. I might re-process with more suitable darks later.

The plan was to take about 9 hours of 15 minute frames. Half way into the session, my house roof got in the way. I switched to another target ad got almost 3 hours of M81/82 as well (have to process those later!)

Looking at the histogram - it looks like you've clipped the red to much...but good detail tho:)

For me, looking at Andromeda never gets old. I really enjoy seeing what you guys can do with it

Hey Martin,

Thanks for the heads up on the red. I think I clipped the red when I tried to remove amp-glow. I think I'll have to do propper 15 darks for this one.

Doh! It seems that the JPEG Conversion clips the red (!!) Who ordered that?

It's still a bit clipped in the red... Well Well...

That's a cracking M31, the second process looks much better on my monitor. The core is a tiny bit burnt out, but that's 15min subs for you, maybe you could take some shorter subs for the core?

That's a good idea Starflyer. Cores in the smaller galaxies in the area burned out as well. Some shorter subs would probably help a bit.
