matt c
Hi allJust had a quick go with the bins and managed to spot Neptune, due to it's proximity to the horizon the sky is essentially orange and the limiting magnitude is no more than around 2.8 ish. What I saw was an extremely faint star that sometimes disappeared completely, the only reason I could see it at all is because using Stellarium I could pinpoint its exact position, without it I just couldn't have found it. I also observed M2 and M15 which were quite easy to find and observe even in my conditions, they did show a very slightly mottled/speckled appearance when some time was spent on them, though this would disappear allot.I finished with a quick view of Jupiter and Uranus (as usual), I'll probably head out again (12ish) when the sky's a bit darker spend half an hour or so. :(
