What is the most important filter to have????

Hi all

As you can see, i am selling my CCD camera, but if i were to keep it, what is the most important filter to have?

I treid to image M31 at kelling, and when i did, all i got was a load of white b blobs ( hope u under stand, and i did not keep the image...sorry ) no detail what so ever, now i think it was because i did not have any filter on the front of the CCD?

Would i need a UV/IR or Light pollution, not worried about putting colour in to the image as of yet!

I always use UV/IR but don't have LP so can't help you there.

Asked the same question when I bought my sbig cam a few days back - H alpha was the answer. Now waiting for some clear skies!
