Another fine pair of galaxies

Out touring again last night. Found a pair of galaxies NGC 3065 and NGC 3066. They are in Ursa Major nearish M81/2.

NGC 3065 is a typical round galaxy. Its pretty faint requiring averted vision in my ten inch scope. Its next to a field star which enhnaces the view. About 3 arc minutes above it (inverted view) is NGC 3066. This is an "active" galaxy from what I read. Its a little fainter than NGC 3065 and is right at the limits of my visibility. In fact at mag 12.9 it is the faintest galaxy out of my 300 or so that I have managed to see which is amazing given the damp conditions and annoying cirus clouds!:)

I also managed to pick out the small edge on galaxy NGC 1184 tonight which is a little brighter and a fine site.:o

Enjoying the darker evenings!
