Globs with a webcam?

Hi all. I am currently using a logitech fusion for solar system objects but am curious as to what the minimum exposure time would be to bag some of the brighter globulars? Maximum exposure time on the fusion is 1/5th of a second which I guess is no way near long enough? But with a piece of software called astrosnap you can get upto 10 seconds which I would imagine should be adequate?

Any input is greatly appreciated, Cheers

The logitech fusion is a webcam - I'm not familiar with it but most people here use a Phillips SPC900 or a NextImage webcam for astro work (noteably planets).

They aren't suited to deep sky objects though unless modified for long exposure. The kind of exposures we are talking about range from 20-30 secs to 2,3,5,10,15,20+ etc mins depending on the object.

DSLR's are a more popular choice, and CCD's (but they're very expensive).

Hope that helps :icon_salut:
