Celestron CPC925 wedge

Recommended Posts

I believe that the Celeston isn't up to much; poorly made and not as substantial as it should be, plus you need to buy the upgrade kit to make it anything like useful, but it is a least reasonably priced compared to other alternatives, but if you can afford it (or justify the expense to yourself) then the Orbit wedge seems to be the best bet:-

The Orbit is the dog danglies of wedges. The Celestron one is a bit overpriced for the standard of engineering - needs a small mod to make it effective cos the az adjuster isn't sound. You also have to get the upgrade kit to make it useful as mentioned above.

The Orbit by comparison is very expensive but is fully functional, looks nicely engineered, and has all the neccessarry features. Hope that helps :icon_salut:

(I have the Celestron one btw - I've also seen a 9.25 on it and it works but is on the limit - not suitable for an 1100)

Hi Brinders, thanks for your reply. Is that the wedge you use?

I don't have a wedge, and find it difficult to justify the price as I am largely interested in planetary/lunar imaging and visual observing where a wedge isn't necessary. Having said that, I have been sufficiently interested to keep an eye on what's available. Maybe I'll go for one when and if funds allow, but not any time soon, I'm afraid.
