Yup you'd need a wedge and at least a 6.3 reducer for dso work. As a planetary AP device though it's fine in alt/az mode. The Celestron wedge and reducer will set you back around £400 brand new - or maybe £250-£300 s/h.

For observation though it's an absolutely beautiful scope - the optics and tracking are spot on and the goto is a delight to use - finds the target in the middle of the ep every time once set up right. It can be used for dso pics, but an eq mount is usually the preferred option for more serious AP. Hope that helps :)
