Mt. Wilson or bust

AHH. Well this weekend I'm hoping to go to Mt. Wilson Observatory in California and was wondering if anyone knew how good it is? I looked up online and I'm not sure if you have to pay $900 to view the 60in. telescope for half a night, and it's just for two people HEEELP please oh, and are there any other places i could go (Orange County California please) that would have a telescope since I can't afford a good one yet and I live where there is too much light pollution

If I could afford I think I would pay that large amount of money, I guess a telescope operator is included to help maximizing the available observing time.

Even just to visit It's a great place with obviously a long history!

Ahh. Don't think I'll be going this weekend but definitely next weekend :/ I've only been able to see one bright star in the city, darn hellicopters confuse me all the time. I need a telescope

If you do not already have a telescope your money is probably better spent getting one. As other have said just a visit to the site is probably impressive enough, if you bought a telescope you could set it up outside the observatory on Mt. Wilson.

Well right now i can't afford a telescope so maybe just a visit to the observatory then hehe

If you could get your hands on a pair of 7x50 or 10x50 binoculars they will show you many things including the. Beehive cluster M44, Pleiades M45, Andromeda Galaxy M31 and Orion Nebula M42. And Jupiters moons.
