Night skies, Tarentaise, Savoie, France, September 2010

Some star trail shots from Belle Plagne village in the Tarentaise Alps, elevation 6200ft. No sky light pollution so the milky way stands out clearly but, why oh why, the village (like almost all in the French alps) is lit up like a Christmas Tree all night long, 52 weeks of the year, with infernal orange lanterns giving lots of local light pollution on objects up to 500ft away which even the cls filter can’t quite cope with. Milky Way brightly visible to the naked eye.
