stacking barlows

just wondering as i have got 2 of 2x barlows, could they be stacked to give 4x ??

or is this a stupid idea

As with everything in life......you don't get something for nothing.

You may well get X4 from the stacked Barlows but you will also get some detraction of optical quality. How much exactly depends on the quality of the lenses.

Only one way to truly find out......try it and see.

I'd be interested in hearing your findings.

You certainly can stack Barlows as suggested. The degredation is fairly minor, it's more a point of whether your scope can cope with the increased magnification.
