That's great news!

Although you do realise the light pollution will become sound pollution as the air will be filled with the sound of wailing as people bemoan the absence of their safe "sickly orange glow"?

Wouldn't it be great if the council also laid on astro-events during the switch-off, to get those wailers outside and crank their necks up to see those bright dots in the sky and appreciate the benefits of a beautiful dark night.

Mind you...there was a power cut in brightly lit California some years ago, and the police were inundated with terrified calls from people who thought alien ships were in the sky...

It was the stars....
