Pixel Binning

I have just found out that Nebulosity, which I bought ages ago and have never used, supports pixel binning on canon DSLR's - up to 2x2.

I am planning on some widefield Ha imaging with my 1000d and was wondering if this is something that would benefit the capture of Ha images where I am only getting useful info on 1/4 of the sensor pixels as it stands.

Would using binning yield a better result?
