Woohoo surprise clearing to the South

I awoke to the sounds of chain saws this morning, neighbours three gardens down have had the large willow which had spread out up to about 60 feet tall cut down. Now I will actually get more time to see planets and a lot more stuff lower down to the South. The added benefit of course is the garden seems more open at the rear

I hope the 50 ft leylandii is next, but that's in a rented accommodation I think, so far this year three 30ft leylandii and now the Willow all to the South have gone. Lets hope this sparks more people into trimming down these trees that really belong in woods not housing estates. We have a lot of trees but all below roof level and sensible sizes so it all still looks green out there, but now we can see the clouds more easily, I mean blue sky.

Lucky you - my neighbour has a spindly 50' silver birch, just over the fence and due south, that simply won't blow down in the current gales!!
