There are a couple of 30mm finders on Astroboot at the moment.

Is the 'chip' right in the middle of the mirror, could it be the remainder of a collimating donut that has fallen off and left its glue behind?

I can't find them, I've done a search for 'finder' and '30mm'.

The chip isn't perfectly centred, so I'm not sure if it's glue or not.

Just a thought ... you will need some video capture software installed ... there are lots of packages out there, but, if you don't already have one, for an initial (free) toe-dipping exercise, you could do worse than amcap: AMCap - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Hi,

Re imaging with a normal camera. You can buy a variety of camera mounts/supports which make taking pictures through an EP, afocal projection, a bit easier, but it is still an art in itself.

You can pick up various bits and bobs cheap at the scope and skies astroboot, including camera supports and finderscopes.
