Little experiments with the coke can (C9.25)

Hello dear Stargazers,

Last week end I had great plans for a great astrophoto session this time with the C9.25, that I'm still trying to tame! ! Unfortunately the goals were not achieved . Apart from the mag 20 asteroid that I captured I could not obtain the frames I wanted to compose more decent photos. I was experimenting the C9.25 @ 1550 mm FL in an extreme hot weather (44-45 ºC at 15:00 and about 29ºC at 23:00). Now I know that with this kind of temperature there are issues in stabilizing this OTA and the guiding, and it is impossible to work at -20ºC with the camera (I tried water assist but at the 4th frame of the M16, fog appeared at the window of the camera (fortunately not at the inside!). Lots of issues that I was not used too in the past (with the smaller Tak).

Anyway I leave here what I got and what could be a great photo session. But not everything was lost time because I know more now than before having gone through these difficulties and that is great :).

Ok, enough talk:

Gear: C9.25 @ 1550 mm + QSI532WS and Orion OAG + Loadstar...still with the ATLAS mount.

M27 - false RGB (Ha, sG, OIII) made with the 2 frames from above and some sweat! . Not that much but we can't make an omelet without eggs, right?

Now those are excellent images, but those satelites can be annoying. You have long exposures - 10 min, and I'm wondering what gain did you used? Or in general how much decreasing gain and increasing exposure time improves the image (are there som optimal settings for that?).

As for -20C... My DSI runs now at about +27C at night so you should be happy with -20 :)
