Astronomy in Turkey

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be holidaying in Turkey this Summer, and I will be taking my binoculars and a sun filter with me. Has anyone been stargazing in Turkey before? Are the skies clear?

I leave tomorrow, and hope for clear skies and dark nights for me and all of you - apparently there is not much cloud to worry about, so I will definitely take the 8X30s and solar filters with me.

I spent 2 weeks in Turkey last months and the seeing was terrible. it was really muggy and despite spending time of a yacht in pitch darkness there wasn't really much to be seen. I was very dissapointed.

I hope it is better for you than it was for me

I'm back, and I will write some reports and photos when I have time. Overall, it was great with dark skies and some amazing sunsets.

We are off out there in about 6 weeks and just bought a Skymax90 with EQ1 table top mount to take out there

I cant wait.
