Digz
Whilst out taking some shots of the sunset last night I decided to have a go at the moon as I haven't shot this properly for a long time.Taken with D200, ISO100, 1/125s @ 500mm with Sigma 170-500mm Lens on Tripod.Im part way through reading Making Every Photon Count and used this opportunity to try out some of the processing techniques, namely sharpening. jgs001
Looks good. Nice result... have you considered cropping it a bit ?
Digz
@gary19 - you should do it@John - this is actually a crop as it is. For every 100mm of focal length (on my sensor size) the moon is 1mm in size on the sensor, therefore at 500mm the moon appears to be 5mm in size. This image is probably a third of the original and I dont know how much more cropping it will take. I will give it a go though!
