Which scope and mount to buy?

good choice of scope moon lander,the 127 mak is a good scope and gives killer views of the moon and planets.as for the mount,there is EQ3 pro or NEQ3 pro aswell?I would proberly upgrade to HEQ5 but thats and also depends on your budget.

Thanks for the endorsement krs01. I am getting the Skywatcher Explorer 200 PDS on a HEQ5 Pro as my main scope so can switch to this mount if required (though with the weight of the HEQ5, this will be more for use in the back garden than for travelling to observe!

for travelling have you considered the az goto mount?thats what i have got at the moment,its lighter than the EQ's and are not that exspensive.

We did consider it, yes. We decided that we would have the GO-TO on one scope (the 200) and try to learn the sky with the other. It will be interesting to see which we use most!

non goto is good fun,i started on a 5"reflector on non goto last year and got the 127 with goto a few weeks ago,the advantage of having the HEQ5 you can use both scopes on it and is heavy enough if you want to do some astrophotography aswell.
