Guys,

Simon is the guy with the mount.

I used one for almost ten years with a 12" f5. Did supernova search and photography. The top end rotated on 900 3mm balls so the eyepiece postion wasn't a problem. There was also two focusers one for photography and one visual; the secondary flipped between them.

Hi Ken

That's a mount! I don't suppose you have to worry too much about overloading that. What size scope is on it by the way and also does the eyepiece end up in odd places as on a GEM?

Hi Jon,

the scope is 16" f4. It is my uncle’s scope housed in a skypod. I do not think he has too much of a problem with focuser position, but he is at the moment trying to design a form of Wilcox rings for OTA rotation. I will try an get him to provide a couple of photos of the new focuser he has put in, it is a low profile Crayford, and initially he had some problems with focusing with certain eyepieces, but he got round that by mounting the focuser and secondary on a rack and pinion type fitting to move the whole of the focuser and secondary up and down the tube, it works a treat and looks amazing.
