THREE active areas on the Sun - 10 Jun

There were, for a short time, THREE active areas in the south west quadrant of the solar disk yesterday (10 June):

0904 UT. WO FLT 110, Lunt solar wedge, 2x5x Powermate, DMK21 (three frame mosaic)

From the left: AR 11080 (patch of small spots), AR 11079 (just a small spot) and AR 11078 (major spot group near the limb).

In the afternoon, AR 11080 had developed whilst AR 11079 has faded away:

1528 UT. Same instrument etc.

Here's a view of the activity in CaK:

Note the small flares visible in the 1458 UT image.

As AR 11078 approaches the limb, associated prominences start to become visible:

1503 UT. Solarscope 60, 2.5x Powermate, DMK21. A "one shot" which was not very successful because the prominences were not really bright enough for this technique.

Here's a better view of the prominences captured in the morning:

Transparency very good. Seeing (morning) moderate, (afternoon) poor. Temperature 17C. Wind NE force 2-3.
