EQ Mount Synscan??

Hi,

I have an EQ3-2 w/ Synscan and am considering buying a HEQ5 soon. I'm wondering if the Synscan element(s) from the EQ3-2 can be reused on the HEQ5?

I don't mean the motors, I mean the control box and hand controller, although I have a suspicion that the HEQ5 has the control box built in.

Does anyone know?

If you are buying the non-goto HEQ5 mount, then none of the EQ3-2 Synscan components will work on the new mount. If you buy the HEQ5Pro Syntrek mount you can reuse the handcontrol from the EQ3-2 to give the Syntrek mount full goto.

Hmmm, interesting. Presumably an option with a Syntrek would be to connect via EQMOD also.

I guess I can't really sell my EQ3-2 though without the Synscan as it would be a bit useless in that case, and the only part of it that would work on the HEQ5 is the hand control. So I may as well sell the complete she-bang and use that to partly fund a HEQ5 Syntrek or Synscan.
