Meade SN6 Focuser Upgrade

Hi all,

Anyone own a Meade SN6 Schmidt-Newtonian?

If so, have you replaced the strange plumbing-hardware focuser with something Crayford styled or similar?

My astro club has an SN6 and we're quite impressed with it - except for the focuser. We'd like to know how difficult it will be to change the focuser for something by GSO/Skywatcher. I presume an adapter plate would have to be made to fit one of the mainstream Newtonian focusers?

I know Moonlite will make an adapter and supply the focuser ready to fit - but it's a bit beyond our budger unfortunately.

Any advice most welcome.

Certainly looks da biz! I must take some measurements this afternoon on the SN6 so I know the spacings and angles etc. Thanks Nadeem
