Solar Activity 18 May (pm)

Clouds didn't move in until mid afternoon, in fact the transparency improved somewhat, giving me an unexpected chance to have an afternoon imaging session today. General appearance similar to this morning.

The "worm" seems to be getting denser & shows signs of arching in the middle section:

1332 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK21

A view of the filaments near the NW limb which may turn into filaproms over the next day or so:

1335 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK21

There is also a straightish chain of filaments near the equator a couple of days east of the meridian:

1333 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK21

Finally, another view of the spectacular group of prominences on the west limb:

1340 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK21

Transparency moderate. Seeing moderate with significant boiling. Temperature 20C, wind S force 4-5.

Thanks guys!

Wish I could post again today but I have leaden grey skies with occasional light drizzle ... temperature is higher but I'd happily trade a 20C temp drop for clear skies!
