About DSLR filter question

Dear all,

I just plan to modify my Canon 450D, remove the original filter and no replacement. Is it o.k.? I plan use it only the astronomical imaging. I understand that I must be take the focuse by Live View.

If there is no filter at all to take the DSO, what's the result? Are IR and UV affected the image quality? Can anyone give me some explaination.

you will need to buy yourself a IR Cut Filter otherwise your stars will come out bloaty.

You could always buy a EOS CLIP CCD Filter, that would help to keep out the dust out.

I recently had the filter removed on my 1000d, which like the 450d is a dual filter camera. The filter left in place has an ir cut in it. Not had a chance to rest mine out tet due to the darned clouds.

Hahaha! I've yet to test out the validity of the claim to be honest, when will these darned clouds pass?
