Artificial star

Ive been meaning to build one of these for ages to star test scopes Im renovating, cant rely on weather so an artificial one is a must.

Popped into Maplins and got a 5mm white ultra bright LED, battery holder, switch and project box.

I fitted the LED to one end of a spare optical audio connector lead wired it up poked the other end through the front of the box and hey presto an artificial star.

A glued a 1/4 20TPI bush on the base and I can fit it to a tripod.

Used it last night to great effect sorting an old frac out.

great idea, always great to tinker with scopes when its cloudy. only wish i had better engineering skills!
