Solar Activity 19 Apr

Better conditions today but the weather window didn't last long. The Sun remains quiet, white light disc blank again.

0913 UT. Coronado PST CaK, prime focus, DMK41.

Here's a closeup of the plage rotating into view at the north east:

0927 UT. Lunt 60mm, B1200 CaK diagonal, 2x barlow, DMK21

Doesn't look much, but the prominences at the limb were very active - there is motion blur along the "spikes" in this AVI which took a minute to shoot!

0946 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow, DMK21

But the highlight is the "birthmark" filament, now transformed into a filaprom:

0957 UT. Solarscope 60, 2x barlow, DMK41

Transparency very good, seeing moderate with some boiling. Temp 11C, wind N force 3-4.

The prom from the Filaprom activity is putting on a good show this morning!

It's gone.

Today's activity on the west limb is a bit further south ... probably the remnants of activity from AR 1062 which went round the limb yesterday.

I've got poor conditions with only intervals of sun today but also hope to image this prom ... got the overviews but not the Ha detail images yet.
