Celestron Starhopper 8" Dobsonian

Recommended Posts

I acquired the scope last year (first scope) tried and tested , brilliant views , but as I increased my eyepiece collection I started to notice that at higher magnificatiions the altitude bearings are not as smooth as required to keep targets in view without very jerky movements , Anyone else had such problems or a fix .

Celestron use a solid round 4" rotator pivot sitting on two 20mm round pegs with a screw handle friction disk supposedly to control tension ( even with these fully slack I still get jerky motion ) :)
