Help with Barska AE10106

Hi.

Does anyone know if this telescope is any good or not? I have an option to buy one but can't find any reviews nor online help with it.

Anyone any thoughts?

To be honest I think there are better choices. It would be OK I guess if it was really cheap (ie: well under £100), to get someone started in the hobby.

The price shown on the link I've found is totally ridiculous - you can get many far more capapble scopes for that price.

Have to agree with John here, it doesn't look the greatest scope in the world. Hows much have you been offered one for?

Not worth £285 at all. Look at the FLO banner at the top of this page for scopes that have a proven pedigree.

There is one for sale locally for £40. I already use a Meade ETX70, but thought for this price it would be a good introduction to reflection telescopes before getting something better.

The scope I linked to (which has the same product number that you are referring to) is a newtonian reflector, not a refractor.

For £40 it might be worth a punt though - 114mm will show more than 70mm. Just be realistic about how stable the mount will be, the quality of the supplied eyepieces etc.

If you get a chance to post a short report when you have had a chance to use on the scope it might help others looking to get into the hobby on a budget.
