12x50 replacements?

I'm looking to replace my ancient greenkat 12x50's from the 1980's. They've served me well but I've decided that after a long life they need updating. I'm looking for something similar but don't really want to spend a lot of money as my bins take a lot of hammer. They tend to live in my car and get bounced around a lot.

I would put a budget of say £50 on my spending. I've seen cheap bins for as little as £9.99 but obviously would rather have something thats a little higher quality.

I'm thinking of downgrading to a more hand holdable 8x42 ish

Any surgestions?

Maybe go to 10x50 those Meade Jobbies that sell for around 25 quid seem good from people who have bought them, if you need higher Mag's maybe check out those revelation ones?.

well ideally i want LESS magnification as this gives a more steady view. But i do like aperture and 8x50 would be nice if they arn't too heavy. Not seen the meade ones but im willing to spend more if i get more for my money (bak4 prisms, multicoatings, water-proof etc)

I would suggest sticking with the 5omm aperture. 7x50s would give you a 7mm exit pupil, and at your age, you can probably use all of that. They are easier to handhold, but I always found it better to prop them against something anyway.

Noticeably better than the regular Meade porroprisms and an absolute steal for the price!
