Negative profile 2"-1.25" adaptor

Recommended Posts

I had this idea today, and don't know why I never thought of it before. For all those focus problems people have with newtonians etc. - why not a 2"-1.25" adaptor so that the eyepiece can sit further inside the focus tube?

I can see some restrictions - eyepieces that are too short will not project out of the adaptor, and eyepieces with a girth larger than say 48mm will not fit in, but otherwise, wouldn't it be useful?

Does it actually already exist??

Interesting concept!!

It would certainly work to give some extra "in-travel" for a 1.25" eyepiece in a 2" focuser.

Never seen one exactly the same but the nosepiece end of my TeleVue 2" eyepiece projection adaptor basically holds the eyepiece in a similar position... maybe could be used..... Hmmm
