synscan firmware update

Hi

i have just got an EQ5pro and the handset says it is version 2.5

the manual says if it is v3 or better, the firmware can be upgraded.

does this mean i have been sent some old stock?

does it matter if the firmware is older?

any advice appreciated.

Was it a new mount? Doubt that handset can be upgraded. If new mount check with retailer.

If you bought that "new" then you'd best contact the retailer ! V3.2x has been around a good while now.

V2 controllers work very well. There are some added feature in V3.

All new mounts should be at least V3.23

embarrassed myself a little here. it's actually v3.2. must've been something else saying v2.5.

It maight have been the motor control unit (the bit inside the mount). There are smarts in the handest AND the MCU.

Synscan has three software/formwats bits - the hand controller, the synscan software itself, and the MCU.

You can download the latest veriosn of Synscan off the SKy-Watcher website - current version is 3.27.

You cant do much about the handcontroller and MCU firmware, at least as far as I know. I havent seen an update for them.
