I was able to observe Jupiter up until about 3 weeks ago when it descended over the horizon just after sunset. So I guess it'll be a while before we'll see that particular jewel in our night sky again.

thx all.

yes i use stellarium, it shows jupiter and mercury very close to the sun at sunset and sunrise. i just wondered if it was worth me taking the scope somewhere higher up to have a looksee?

my house is north/south facing. so not even any windows west or east.

maybe i could try the flat roof on my 2 storey extension?

Jupiter will be back in our night skies rising in mid August and will be quite well placed around 10pm in October/November it will be very slightly lower in the sky than Saturn currently is. You can see it high in the sky in August but you'll have to stay up late to see it.
