Autoguiding On A Mac

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of getting an autoguiding setup for my Nexstar8GPS.

I was thinking of an ST80 piggybacked on the scope and using a QHY5 camera for the guider using PHD software. The only problem is that I can't seem to find out if this is possible on a Mac without going down the bootcamp / parallels route. Does anybody have any experience / advice on autoguiding using a Mac. I know that the latest version of PHD for mac does support QHY cameras but i don't seem to be able to find any drivers.

Thanks for your help

Darren

I wasn't sure that the latest version of PHD did support QHY on a Mac?

From Craig Starks site:

ASCOM v5 compliant cameras (Windows)

Atik 16 series, and Generation 3 series (Windows)

CCD-Labs Q-Guider (Windows)

DCAM compliant Firewire (OS X)

Fishcamp Starfish (Windows and OS X)

Meade DSI series: I-III, color and Pro (Windows and OS X)

MagZero MZ-5 (Windows)

Orion StarShoot DSCI (Windows)

Orion Guider (Windows)

Opticstar PL-130 / PL-130C

SAC4-2 (Windows)

SBIG (Windows and OS X, but see Help for details)

Starlight Xpress SXF / SXVF / Lodestar

The Imaging Source (Windows and OS X)

Webcams (short and long-exposure - parallel port, serial port or LXUSB, Windows).

I guess Parallels is an option although I haven't tried it yet.

If in doubt send Craig an email. He's always patient with my emails about using his software on a Mac (he's a Mac user himself...)
