Saturns Moons

MoonNut

Recommended Posts

Got up at 02:30 to view Mars and Saturn, I noticed 3 "stars" near Saturn and tought one of them must be Titan. Just checked Cartes Du Ciel and all three are moons! Titan (8.4) above Rhea (9.8) and Dione (10.5) on the other side.

Yahooo, didn't expect that !!!!

I will reconfirm tonight and I should also have been able to see Tethys (10.3).

I suppose this is what happens when after 9 years with 6" you step up to 10" :)

Iapetus is easy too - once to learn that it can be a considerable distance from the planet. Enceladus should be visible with 10" when near elongation, provided the sky transparency is good (moonlight or light pollution have little impact because of the glare from Saturn itself).
