Does anyone know of any software or downloadable charts or anything like that, that will show me paths of comets and dates and times etc so i can find them with the scope? I would really like to find some but havnt the foggiest where or when to look :headbang:

The freeware planetarium program Carte du Ciel ( CdC) V3 has the option of downloading all the orbital details of all known Comets.

Once this database is loaded the path of the comet is shown on the maps. You can change the date and location to see historical comets ie Comet Halley in March 1986 from Australia.

In CdC you can change the limiting magnitude to only show the brighter stars and the constellation lines. It's definately more of a Star Mapping program than the Stellarium which is more "visual"

It's worth the effort to learn CdC. It can do so much more.....
