Merlin66
The freeware planetarium program Carte du Ciel ( CdC) V3 has the option of downloading all the orbital details of all known Comets.Once this database is loaded the path of the comet is shown on the maps. You can change the date and location to see historical comets ie Comet Halley in March 1986 from Australia.

Sunwind
my problem with cartus du ciel is that it just looks awful compared to say, Stellarium, the 'sky' in it is so messy I can't make anything out..
markystars
oh dear, that doesnt sound good, i like simplicity
Merlin66
In CdC you can change the limiting magnitude to only show the brighter stars and the constellation lines. It's definately more of a Star Mapping program than the Stellarium which is more "visual"It's worth the effort to learn CdC. It can do so much more.....
