Crackling, fragmenting, big-as-Neptune sunspot 898 is about to vanish.

The sun's rotation is carrying it over the western limb, out of sight:

Solar observers should keep an eye on the sun's limb today as sunspot 898 passes over.

The active region could spew clouds of hot plasma thousands of kilometers high where they can be seen glowing against the black of space.
