Binary Meteor?

Recommended Posts

An interesting observation made by accident last night. (2009 Nov 13, 0431 UT) A fast white meteor, about mag. -2, streaked away from Taurus heading east - that got my attention, but it was followed about one second later by a mag. -4 meteor, alse white, following almost exactly the same track at the same speed as the preceding one. The brighter one travelled about 5 degrees further before fading out.

These meteors were sporadics, much too fast for Taurids or for re-entering space debris.

Has anyone else seen a "binary meteor"? Yes, I'm aware that coincidences happen, but the connection between these two seemed obvious.

This thread needs a video, unfortunately I'm unable to supply one....
