Another Gem of a galaxy

Finally got out again last night galaxy hunting.

Starting with Agol in Perseus and then slightly to the left is a treasure trove.

After narrowing in I found it a lovely little bright circle of light NGC 1275. Apparantly an active galaxy. About 13.3 sbr so pretty faint but noticable even in my 9mm. The best view was in the UO 4mm despite its narrow FOV. I really want the other UO's now...I will buy the 5 through to 15mm if anyone has them!

Any way got inside and I find there is a veritable string of galaxies in this area. So armed with the detailed carte du ciel map I aim to go back out on Sunday night if it clears to tick off a few more!

Well done Mark, did you get 1275 before moonrise, or were you able to see it through the lunar interference? I've never tried galaxy hunting when Luna's up, but if it's do-able i'd like to give it a try.. it might be a fun challenge.

The moon was up but behind a handy house. I am sure the galaxy would have appeared brighter in a moonless night. I will certainly come back to this spot in a few days time when the moon is still below the horizen.

Iam new here and your oberving skill is superb , can you tell me that a dob of about 14" , can it show some galaxies on my suburb whose limiting mag is about -4.0

really very nasty situation and i will prefer to have some suggestions about observing galaxies.
