4 sec delay in dec

Hi I have found that I have a 4 sec backlash in Dec while using a rate x1. Will I still be able to use PHD to auto guide with this?

Yeah I think so as it will sort itself out while doing the calibration.

I think backlash that long will be a disaster. Make sure you balance in Dec so as to keep the backlash at one end of the travel or the other.

Four seconds is an enormous amount of backlash! I doubt very much whether any guiding software will accommodate that much. How do you know that it is so long? How have you timed it? What was the mount loaded with when you measured it at 4sec??

If it is so long, I suggest that it would be better to understand the underlying cause and remedy that first before you start guiding

Sorry to sound so negative but 'normal' backlash is usually measured in decimals of a second.
