Last night I finally got my Celestron C6 NGT working, and I left the mount itself outside to keep the polar alignment (the one thing thats tricky for me)

Start with a decent astronomy book that gives an idea of what is there.

Seems the art of reading is being lost and there is so much information in a book. You posted this 2 hours ago, in 15 minutes a half reasonable book could have given you several things. M31, double cluster between Casseiopia and Perseus, M13, ring nebula in Lyra, M27 (dumbell neb) in Vulpecula, M57 Lyra, Veil neb, Pelican neb, N American neb all in Cygnus (straight up). That is in 3 minutes of reading a book.
