NASA LRO images Apollo 14 landing site

NASA's LRO Lunar Orbiter has sent back first images of the Apollo 14 landing site that show the descent stage and its shadow,due to a favourable low sun angle, the astronaut's footprint trail and the scientific instruments near the descent stage.

greater resolution images are expected later.

Excellent - perhaps the conspiracy theories about man not going to the moon can be put to rest now.

Interestingly, the picture of the Apollo 11 site - I remember the footage when Armstrong was on his final approach, and the large crater he had to skip over just before he landed - that crater is clearly visible in the image just to the right of the lander base.
