Skywatcher ring/dovetail question

Guys,

hope this isn't too stupid....

I have some skywatcher rings from an Alt Az mount . I have also bought a skywatcher dovetail bar to allow me to put the scope (an evostar 90) which came with the alt az mount onto my Vixen GP. Now I'd like to bolt the rings onto the dovetail but when I offer up the rings to the dovetail bar the bolt that comes with the Alt Az mount doesn't reach up to the hole in the rings.

The dovetail has a couple of rails which stop the ring fitting flat onto the surface of the dovetail, if they were not there then I think the bolt would be the right length

So here's the question

1) Do I buy some longer bolts?

2) Do the alt az rings fit on a sky watcher dovetail?

3) Is there something else blindingly obvious I' missing:confused:?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

A set of M6 roof bolts work a charm... I think 25mm are the ones I used.

25mm from memory here too... make sure they are galvanised or stainless tho

I had a few of those bolts sitting around in the garage (to fix my wheelbarrow) so I got the job done in 10 minutes. Thanks for the advice

Dunno, but if the bolts he pinched were for holding the handles on there's a Kodak moment waiting to happen!
