4 Allan Screws On Dovetail Bar

Hi' can anyone tell me what are the 4 allan screws are for on a dovetail bar Thanks.Mark

These are supplied to allow you to raise one or other of the rings to achieve perfect alignment and reduce "Cone error" ( where the optical axis of the telescope is not perfectly aligned with the RA axis of the mounting)

This is very well explained in "Appendix A -Cone error calibration", of the Synscan Manual ( available from the Skywatcher website)

They also stop the dovetail sliding out of the mount when you forget to do the clamp up properly! Yeah, done that ....

Also found they stop the ring from twisting on the single bar screw.
