Captures using Canon camera software

Hi' just woundering is it possible to take captures' of the night sky with the camera's software at primefocus captureing on to the laptop.Or won't the software work for the night sky Thanks.Mark

Yes, it is how we do DSLR imaging with telescopes. Attach the DSLR to the scope, connect to computer and take manual images of upto 10 minutes or more long and download to the PC for editing and stacking together.

Software will work for anything, it is just pixels. It is all about focusing and shutter length.

It is all about focusing

Which is probably what's catching the OP out ... when using a camera lens, the shutter won't fire unless you set the lens to manual focus. Which means you have to focus the lens manually.
